JOB PURPOSE:
To
manage the operations of the refinery on a shift basis by optimising all
resources, manpower, machinery and materials in order to achieve production
targets within set parameters, at the lowest cost possible while ensuring a
safe and hygienic working environment.
PRIMARY DUTIES PERFORMED:
1) Develop and implement operation
methods and procedures designed to eliminate operational problem;
2) Provide technical and
operational support to the operators;
3) Read the daily reports, control
sheets and log books in order to get the correct picture of the production flow;
4) Direct on all issues concerning
the refinery in order to be fully aware of any past, current or likely events
that could affect production;
5) Monitor all the relevant
parameters via the DCS/SCADA and by direct supervision of manpower and processes,
in order to take timeous corrective action with minimum deviation form best
operating set points;
6) Respond immediately to any
deviation within the process or any breakdown by allocating correct resources,
by taking appropriate steps to adjust the remaining production parameters and
calling necessary staff in order to minimise downtime, low production rate,
poor quality and undetermined losses;
7) Follow up on equipment during
maintenance stops and ensure the equipment repairs are carried out in time to
enable the refinery to start as per scheduled timing;
8) Ensure the inventory of chemical
used in the process are available, otherwise raise a report to the Manager to
request for an order;
9) Assess and plan manpower
requirements for the department to ensure efficiency and timely execution;
10) Assist in setting performance objectives and
undertake annual performance reviews for all subordinates;
11) Motivate, train and develop staff to achieve
Company’s capability necessary to support and grow the business;
12) Undertake ad hoc tasks as and when required by
the Manager - Production.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s
degree in Chemical Engineering, Process, Sugar Technology, Food Technology or
equivalent from a recognized University;
Minimum
7 years of relevant experience in a food or chemical industry with experience
in a sugar refinery;
Detailed
understanding of the refinery process, quality control and assurance of both
the final product and intermediate material in the production line;
Training
in plant and operational safety;
Team
oriented with a strong analytical aptitude, decision making and problem solving
capabilities;
Excellent
communication skills in English, both written and oral. Arabic language is an
advantage;
Good
computer skills; and
Multi-tasker
who can handle frequently changing and evolving situations.
